Well bless my cotton socks, what a week!!!! Ive put of writing a blog this week as I didn’t want to write about badbeats and down swings. Unfortunately ive suffered plenty of both in the past 7 days! To help put things right I stepped down from 5/10 to the dizzy heights of 200nl and put in some hands and try to get over the invertible variance down swing. 12,000 hands in 2 days ive got a banging headache and a flat P&L! But my word have I got some skalanski dollars!!!!! 12 that’s TWELVE buy ins of –EV and trust me that’s only half the story. I think I ran AK into AA 5 times (not checked don’t want to re run the pain) in less than 20 minutes at one stage last night, granted I deserve to lose, after all im getting it in as bad as you can but you got to admit that’s pretty sick. I also seemed to have a run of hitting a big turn or river card that gave me two pairs or better, but every time it gave my opponent a better hand, again I kept getting it in bad but there was just no getting away from my very good second best hands……..so bloody sick! But bless the poker gods they saved the best till last! The last two days of 200nl ive been playing across 9 tables, like I said I wanted to get the hands in and get over the sick variance. The 12 buy ins of EV obviously don’t come from any of the hands above, no no no they came in far better ways, just a couple of examples:

AA v two players, player 1 KQ, player 2 KQ. Board is K x x x , all the money goes in on the turn…river Q!

UTG raises, table of fish call, I massive 3 bet to $80 with JJ, they all call!!!! Flop 2 4 8, UTG all in everyone else fold, I call hes got 99, turn J, river x………..the river x mind you was the fourth spade for his flush!!

Then there was the standard AA v KK all in, K on the river, and of course the standard AA v JJ all in pre flop J on the river!!!!!!

So I think its fair to say its been a tough time, but guess what……no pain! Bless um all and good luck to um, it’s the wonderful world of poker, people want to play the way they play so good luck to them all, im blessed that I can still find NINE tables full of such value, its actually been a wonderful week if you look at it correctly, so much value out there!!!!!!

Today though I felt id done enough grinding to justifiably think id got over the variance, so I stepped up a level to 2/5, 1 hour no pain just blessed good cards and good poker and a tidy 3 buy ins profit. Now that’s what im talking about! Down swing dealt with, up swing is now here!!!
