WSOPE main event day 1b

After taking a look at the players who played day 1a i for some unknown reason i thought that maybe day 1b was going to be a little weaker. Obviously i realise that a £10k buy in event offers little in value as virtually everyone playing is a pro, but i still thought id caught the better starting  day of the two......................that is until i site down at my table: Seat 1: Darus Suharto – 6th WSOP 2007 main event for $2.7m
Seat 2: Andrew Lichtenberger – 18th 2009 main event, 2nd WSOP 2009 shoot out, for just the $1m
Seat 3: Richard Herbert
Seat 4: Peter Eastgate .............errrmmmm $9m for his 2007 WSOP main event win.........plus countless other cashes for this poker legend.
Seat 5: Christer Johansson - Irish open winner, another player with ONLY over $1m in winnings!!
Seat 6: Willie Jung – the only “unknown, well unknow to me that is.                                          Seat 7: Benny Chen - internet whizzz, one of the poorer live plays, only won $300,000 (welcome to my world!)
Seat 8: Michael Binger -.........only won $5m including his final table of the WSOP main event in 2006.
So that kind of proved my thinking to be a little skewed! So to the poker, 30,000 chips 90min clock, deepstack poker baby, im sitting here all day playing just the goods!!!!!!!! FIRST hand in the SB i call a raise from the button with 5s6s, the flop comes 7s8sx, flop A, river x. I do 8k in after a 5k bluff on the river into a set of aces.......................the perfect start. Amazingly after this unreal start i finished level #1 amongst the chip leaders on a very healthy 50k, 40k of this coming in a all in pre flop hand with me holding AA v KK, as with the first hand this was played against the super aggressive and very good player that is Andrew Lichtenberg. The next couple of levels i went on a mid pair rush, finding hand after hand of 66s,77s,88s,99s and 1010s, problem was i was making no sets and generally finding two over cards, every time i made some kind of bet i was called/Raised and i dropped a good 20k.........................but i was still playing and feeling good and with so much play there’s no panic. By the dinner break i was back upto $35k, instead of spending the 90min break eating/drinking poker i headed off back to my hotel room to chill and take a shower (did i mention the park lane suite?!). Level 5 and its time for my one and only serious move. Willie Jung the tightest player at our table raises to 1025, all fold and i make the call in the BB with 8h9h, we are HU. The flop is 6s7sx. I check Willie bets 2,000 i call. Turn is Qs. I check Willie bets 2,500.........i have a think and make it 6,500 he calls. River is Js and i bet out for 10k. After deliberating for 10 minutes he folds his flush and asks to see my hand, knowing this is a great spot for a little advertising i show the hand. Nothing surer this hand put me back on track and also helped reinforce my table image which was kindly set up by the legend Peter Eastgate. Peter arrived about 40mins late at the start of the tournament, after he’s sat down next to me on my left we got chatting with his opening line of “Your strummer9 from badbeat right?!”.............now seriously i cant think of a better ego boost than having a main event world champion knowing who i am!!!!!!!!!!! It also made a couple of the players ears around us *** up so i used this free advertising slot to drop a few poker moments in! Anyway enough of my legend status amongst the elite of the poker world, back to the job in hand! Level 6 the final level of the day and i step it up a level, a few good hands and few good value bets and a couple of well timed three bets and ive raced to a very healthy 61k. Im back for day 2 at 17.30 with over 100bb and its still deep stack poker..........................perfect!

From PokerNews - Richard Herbert 61k !!! now that is either a complete misprint and he is out or way up, or the strummmeister really has played all day for no change in chips !!!!!
