I think the hard work and long hours are starting to pay off as i once again move in to profit for the month. The variance seems to have shifted too as i finally stick a REAL sick beat on someone, the someone being one of the better, if not the best reg at the mid level stakes. Im dealt 33 in the big blind, theres a standard UTG raise followed by three callers so a jump aboard for the ride. The flop is 3d 2d 8c, i check, UTG pot bets and gets two callers, no need to get sneaky so i push all in, UTG calls with K8 (please!!!) and the very good reg calls with 88..............one outer 3 on the turn and a 400BB pot is on its way to papa! Im not one for chat when playing, i very rarely moan and virtually never ever say ul etc. But i have alot of respect for the player i'd stuck it up and typed in "very very sick, very ul".............like he needed telling! Anway it was nice to finally really get some varinace going my way and it set me up for another solid winning day.
Now becasue im not in Vegas and im not playing the WSOP main event i try and pretend its not happening and ignore it- but having so many friends out there trying there luck its hard not to have a peak to see whats happening!!! What is amazing this year is just how well so many of the top names are doing, the current champion Eastgate putting up another amazing run before being knocked out in the top 100, another champ who went real deep was Hatchman finishing in the top 200. As for the Brits well my old mucker Greco followed up his 3rd place finish a few weeks ago with another class poerformance to finish in the top 170 of the main event collecting $40,000 to go with his $250,000 from the earlier event, not bad going for a player who just doesnt seem to get the credit he deserves (did i ever mention how i beat him HU to win the Portugal Open?!). We still have a player going for it in the shape of James Akenhead. James made a name for himself last year finishing second in a PL event picking up $500,000, hes still going strong on 1.7m chips with around 100 players left. Anyone who knows James will tell you the same, basically hes a top fella who plays the game the way he lives his life and isnt affraid to put it all on the line, and if he gets the rub of the green hes certainly good enough to go all the way. On his way there though hes going to have to take on probably the best player on earth, the one, the only Phil Ivey- seriously how good is this fella? And sat on 6.3m chips in 4th place, well you'd be daft to bet against him! Anyway enough of the $10,000 buy in event with $60m in prize money, i got some $200nl to go play..........or maybe go as high as $500 today???
