WSOP 15th June part 2

Well that didnt take too long, 80mins long in fact- not sure if its my fastiest WSOP exit of all time but its certainly up there. No badbeat story im afraid just pretty standard exit for me. On paper the tournement looked a deep stacked affair but in reality there wasnt too much room for error with the 5,000 starting chips. I generally try and play the first couple of levels solid and use the time to get to know my players, as per this mornings post i wanted to get back to my "A" game and have a feel for the other players and there games, unfortunetley the cards didnt allow it! I got off to a steady start picking up AK, AJ and 99 winning three pots and collecting  1,000 chips..........then it went slighty wrong. Dealt AK mid position i open for a standard 150 and get two callers. The flop was a respectable looking A 6 5 rainbow. Its checked to me and i bet 300, the button re raises to 800 other guy folds. My first real pot of the day out of position with top pair top kicker to a re-raise from a player ive played some 15 hands with.............i feel my only option is to re-raise or fold, so i pop it back making it 2200 to go. He has a think and calls. the flop is a J, i check and he pushes all in. Now my reading skills havnt been too great on this trip, but looking at the chap he didnt look the type to be putting his tourney life at risk with AQ or A10, the only two hands im beating, so early in the tourney and i didnt want to be going out 30-40mins into a tourney with such a marginal hand, so i fold. Im now down to 3300 ish. Not wishing to starting losing chips trying to make things happen i sit back and hope that i can start hitting a few hands, no need to panick. A few hands later i find AJ on the button, its folded to me, again standard raise 150. Small blind re-raises to 450, i call miss and fold to the "C" bet, a tiny pot, but with my stack falling these tiny pots are massive. The next level kicks in and i find no hands whats so ever. Im then dealt Kd10d in the big blind. Its folded to the button who makes it 450 to go, hes been the most active player on the table and when the small blind calls i see a good spot to push for a pot thats well worth winning here and now, so i push for 3,100. The button snap calls and im feeling pretty bad about the spot im in, the small blind folds showing AQ. The button turns over 55, he snapped called me for 70% of his chips with a player to act behind him with 55..........got to happy? The flop was nothing short of perfection: 5 5 A !!!!!! It was the Ad so i did have a straight flush draw, until the turn of course and to really piss me of i hit the 10 on the river! Another day, another $2000 and im well into a five figure Vegas hole and im only 6 days into the trip, wonderful!!!!!! With the break arriving i meet up with skalie in the outside smoking area where we are joined by John Duthie whos down to the last eight of the heads up main event, eddieyates from ladbrokes (sorry, im just so bad with real names) Nick Gibson (ok im not so bad with real names) Carlo wazit (no im bad with names) and Niel Channing. The conversations revolved around Roland De Wolf winning his first WSOP braclet last night, Duthies possible braclet and his minimum payout of $90k in the heads up, Channings latest cash and badbeat story, Carlos latest $60k draw at the Venetian and poor old skaile only picking up $25k so far this trip, as for Nick he ONLY had 10% of JP Kelly who picked up $200,000 ealier in the week- all in all it seems everyone ones winning or taking a piece of someone else winnings apart from me! I came to Vegas with a game plan and a stop limit, the game plan hasnt worked, well to be honest its never got off the ground and the stop limit is within touching distance. Im not one for putting everything i have at risk and playing with money i havnt budgeted for and im realistic enough to understand thats theres always next year. But i am very disapointed, last year was a write off for many reasons and this year i wanted to get things back on track. Online ive done that but live its just not happening. Its constantly pointed out to me that i just dont play enough live to give myself a real chance of getting over variance etc, this i cant argue with i mean ive played like 5 or 6 live events all year! but i do feel with my "A" game i have a chance, but yet i i havnt brought my "A" game out here and on my self impossed limited budget it was always going to be a struggle. The big question is what to do now? I could play a couple more events, i could play the Bellagio $1000 events or try and pull something back at the cash tables................but will i just be digging a bigger hole for myself?! Most of the other UK pros out here apart from the finacial edge (Having BIG bankrolls helps, but most of them are super sick and sticking there last $1 in world on the line is never a problem!!!!!) have another edge: there either single, have no children or there kids are grown up so staying out here for 3-6 weeks isnt that big a deal, i on the other hand have a young family and the single hardiest part of being in Vegas is being away from the family, its also the thing thats makes leaving vegas so very easy for me when most people around me think im mad!!!!!!! Im not making my mind up just yet, for the past five years ive left vegas early and i dont want to rush into going home just yet, though its far from the worst case scenario.........................as Nick Gibson said, if your not winning here but winning at home on the net, what you doing here? Its a job, we got to pay the bills and at the moment the bills aint getting paid over here and on current form there unlikely too!!! Viva Las Vegas.
