I like to be a man of my word! Hows this then, two write ups in two days! Well lets get the poker side out of the way. The down swing of Saturday was more than covered yesterday as the poker gods corrected the errors they made over the weekend..............though they did make me sweat a little first. After a couple of hours of pain i once again found myself looking at a big losing day, of course all the loses totally and utterly down to sickness!! Taking a look at the graph i was -$2300 but on REAL EV ( i take out the 50/50s) i was +$1,700, running sick but playing good. My favourite beat of the day was in a 300BB pot, i have AA standard raise, im re-raised by a reg who cant fold so rather than go through the 3bet, 4bet, 5bet all in routine i move all in he snap calls his 150BB with QQ and first card out the Q. Nothing really unusual in that, apart from this is a play who was crying like a baby last week because i caught a back door straight after he checked checked his top two pair before getting all his money in on the river, and i mean he really through the toys out of the pram! So to get the money in against him so good, to take the beat and then to take it on the chin with no back chat i claimed the moral high ground!!!!!!! Foooooooooooook the money! Im going to heaven and hes going to poker hell !!!! The fact that 30 minutes later i take all him money in a huge 500BB pot when he moves all in on the turn with a straight draw against my top set does make it so much easier to talk about!!!! That was the turning point yesterday, after which most of my big hands held up as well as my non-showdown line staying in profit. The day finishing a nice round $4000 to the good (REAL EV i was showing +$6300)...................So enough about the poker and back to the real reason for this blog update, I cant believe in the last blog i didnt mention the game of golf i had last week. Now anyone whos been unlucky enough to play golf with me over the last 3 years will know just how poor ive been playing, very simply ive been playing real bad, REAL bad! So we tee off, first hole i lose two balls and score a blob! Second hole, stroke index 2 i pick up a lovely 4/4 and well maybe my swing is still there somewhere? Third hole a solid 5/2 and all of a sudden im liking the game again. Fourth hole, 148 yard par three, eight iron, lovely sweet swing, crisp connection between club and ball, perfect follow through as i watch the ball cut through the air and pitch on the edge of the green directly in front of the hole.......its going in, its going in!!!!.............As it gone in?! The walk down to hole was well worth the effort, oooooooooo yes the ball was in alright and i bank my first, and im sure my last HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The year of the strummer for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
