Well weekend poker undoes my week once again!! Plugged away all week, being highly selective of the players i play against and got the P&L back in the black where it belongs. Then the weekend arives and i suffer river abuse of the most exspensive nature!!!!!! Having played mostly 30/60FL and taking a royal beating i was sickend to find a 50/100 game with a real live one doing his best to personally solve the credit crunch as he shared the wealth. Problem was id droped 30BB at 30/60 and was getting close to 50% of my daily limit which for me is an auto stop point. I decided to sit short stacked with $1000 (10BB) and no matter what if i lost i would leave. I was thinking my move had been inspired as the first two hands i win virtually doubling my stack, within another 10 hands id be river 3 times, standard finish to a poor painful weekend leaving the P&L in the red at virtually the same point as it was 7 days ago! This morning then my plan was to play low until i returned a winning session, then if the tables were offering value i would step up. Two tables of low stakes 10/20FL which to be honest were more than worth playing due to the very loose action. Sadly for me im having a bit of river horror week and i just couldnt find a way of winning! 35BB down over two tables is to be honest nothing when you think that a standard swing at one FL table can often be 50BB, but things just dont feel right at the moment so i cut my loses and left. This of course is inline with my aproach this year, and if im not winning im going to step down quick! I dont intend to drop any further down the FL ladder so may well start playing some NL next week and a few stts in the hope of returning to winning ways. On reviewing my play its heartening to see im still playing good and that the down swing is the result of standard variance. Ive also taken heart from the latest book im reading, Jesse Mays Shut up and deal! Jesse was a high stacks FL player in the 90s and his fast moving novel feels like its written about me at times! The bottom line of the book seems to be that its dealing with your mental state when losing that seperates the winners from the loses, winning is easy when winning, losing on the other hand is anything but!!!!!!!! Anyway im sure the flat week ive had is just but a small blip in this, the year of the strummer!!! Onwards and upwards.
