Been a very intresting week both on and off the felt. Cyberland returned a much needed winning week but its where i won it that makes me wonder about my sanity. Ive been playing six tables of 100NL to 1000NL for the past 12 months, as we know the overall results have been far from perfect!!! The last 3 months have also been very flat, with every month being a break even, so last week a new approach!!!!!! Over the last 7 days ive playing 10/20FL ring games, 30/60FL and 50/100FL...............and ive also been playing FLHU (fix limit heads up) surely the sickiest form of poker known to man!!!! Now i havnt gone mad, in fact i got into the FLHU that after a mornings play i couldnt find a game with all the regulars refusing my challanges. Alot of the credit has to go to a young German chap in my group by the name of Tim. He joined my group as a FLHU player and to put it simply hes one of the best players ive ever seen! A student of maths and a German he has no emotional involvment when he plays and thus has a poker brain that never tilts and always makes informed decisions. Thankfully some of this calm logical FL approach as rubbed off on me during our weekly HU session. In this session we go over a few hands then the real work of a HU game starts playing the biggest game in town , 0.01c/0.02c game, the game is all about the winning not the money! So a winning week even if at the sick FL tables ive got to be happy!
Of course the big talking point of the week was the badbeat christmas party held last week at badbeats new offices in Yorkshire. Id planned to write my blog around the events from that day but the truth is my memory was some what effecting by the vast amounts of Chablis I drank! I do know it was a great night, i know the food was wonderful, the drink was free thus obviously making it doubly wonderful, i know i played a drunken donk game of poker in the tournement that got me to the final table and me exiting around 06.00am very very drunk!!!!! But what i remember most was just how wonderful the people there were. If like me you remember the Ladbrokes get togethers of years gone by, where everyone was there to play poker but more importantly to have a good time, a laugh, a drink and poker in that order- well the badbeat party was that, a great night with great people with the bottom line being fun!!!!!.......................but once again id like to say sorry for the donks play, i really dont play like that in real life!!
