I think its safe to say that the last 2-3 weeks has been my best play for a good few months. The actual convertion of good play into $$$$$ isnt where id like it to be but at least at the moment im back in control of my game, playing well within in my limits and probably more importantly actually enjoying the game again and thus looking forward to playing. I think one of the major changes over the last few weeks that has come hand in hand with my return of cofidence, as been my ability to recover from a poor start, not flapping and not focusing on how much "money" ive lost and how it will affect my P&L. When i was at the bottom of the down swing i only needed to lose a single buy in and i started to worry, worry usually means i start playing to tight and as punk said i stop firing the gun. Naturally this over cautious approach is a standard reaction to badbeats, running bad, down swings and playing bad. Yesterday was a day that showed me just how much mentally ive swung things around. First hand im dealt AA and get all the money in on a 2 3 Q rainbow board, im shafted by 42. Two hands later i do another buy in with JJ v 55 on a 566 board. A few weeks back id have been in bits and probably would have retreated into my shell and start playing a nit check call game, obviously not my game and obviously not winning poker. Instead i reloaded taking the beats as i should do, ie its just the game get over it! Three hours later i finished the session three buys in up, and i also had the added bonus of sticking a badbeat on someone! Dealt KK on the button i get it all in pre against AA in the big blind.......standard!!! As the turn card was dealt i get kick out of mansion. I managed to get back on 10 minutes later and though i was unable to find the hand it was clear to see via the balance id spiked a K on the river. After getting confirmation from mansion and then the badbeat office that there wasnt a banking issue and i had indid hit a very very unlikely 2 outer i turned off the PC again, happy for once to have actually been the giver rather than the taker!!!!! Now surely if that isnt a sign that things are on the up i dont know what is !!! Todays session was much the same, within the opening hour id run KK into AA (this time no 2 outer), top two pair into trips and then i get it all in with a flush draw, hit the flush but then get outdrawn to a four to the flush on the river- another grim start. Two hours later i finish just over a buy in up and again shut down the PC feeling like things are really starting to turn my way, and lets be honest its about bleeding time too!!!!
