Another week passes and along the way a couple of good opportunities to pick up a big pay check pass by too, first was of course the LEOCOP main event which i talked about in my last post. Next up was the Blackpool leg of the GUKPT, a tour ive had very little- in fact no sucsess in- but it was at Blackpool which in the past as been ok to me! I was playing on Thursday for a couple of reasons, firstly every year in Blackpool most of the regualrs on the tour go out on the town on the Wednesday so any of the regs playing on the Thursday would hopefully be suffering with hangovers. Secondly the rest of the regs who dont go out on the razz on the Wednesday dont arrive till Friday, so Thursday should be the best day to play! When i checked my table i wasnt to be disapointed as the only player on my table was Simon Zack a player ive played with manytimes and a player i love playing against, loose aggressive, likes to talk and usually with a smile on his face! The rest of the faces were very unfamiliar to me and with the greatest respect after an hour or so of playing with them I was even happier, with most of the table playing super tight poker. Basically for the first two hours either i raised and Simon called, or he raised and i called with inbetween either of us raising and everyone else folding! Obviously we were going to play a big pot and who ever won that would then run the table. Chiping away at the table we both had around 15k when that hand arrived. Simon raises in eary position and i call holding 9d10d, everyone else folds. The flop comes 2dJdQc, simon bets pot and i call, turn is a rag, now we get serious. Simon bets out pot again, about 2.2k and i re raise to 6.5k. He dwells for an age and im sure im good and feel hes gone into the tank to save face..............but he then calls and another blank falls and my monster draw in a monster pot all of a sudden turns back into 10 high! He checks, i ve got around 6k left and im sure if i push with so much money in the pot after he does the sums he will call with any kind of made hand (when we talked about the hand later he confirms this). So we flip our cards over and im surprise to see i was in such a bad spot from the flop as he shows KdQd !!!!!! Talk about getting it completely wrong!!! My only saving grace was that i didnt raise on the flop were im pretty sure if i do we get it all in. As expected once he had the chiplead zack took the captains armband and starting bossing the table raising virually everyhand safe in the knowledge that his only real threat had been well and truley put to bed!!! The next hour i called off another 2k in chips with mid pairs and suited connectors hoping to find a spot to double up, but it didnt arrive. First hand after the break i get AsQs, utg raised to 700, i re raise to 2k (out of 4k) , the button calls?!!! but the SB sorted out all the confusion with a 6k re raise! UTG folds and im looking at one of those very stange hands that accure every now and then, i know im up against AA but the fact the pot is laying me such good odds and that im left with so little if i fold that its actual worth the call on the 5-10% chance thats he got KK or less and that my ace as a fight chance! So i call, the button folds (what was her calling with)?!!! and the SB flips over AA that hits four to the flush.............as did my Q !!! And once again i exit early on day 1 at a GUKPT...............my time will come! Strangly on the Sunday i play the $250 buy in event on Ladbrokes (used to bee the sunday lunch $500 event and hopefully we will see the return of that), and after being in good shape i end up limping to the final table with a small stack which i managed to get in with AQ, it lost again.........last three tournies i exit with AQ................hmmm theres something in that i feel !
