September 8th

Been a strange weekend. Not being able to make the dreamteam final was a bit of a downer but every cloud as a silver linning. It was also the Bolton leg of the GUKPT this weekend and living only 20 mins away from Bolton meant that the obsticales in my way that prevented the trip to London wouldnt stop me playing Bolton................it was just the small matter of the £1000 stoping me. After my last couple of months online even I didnt have enough neck to ask badbeat to pay me in, and my own personal finances were taking a beating mainly due to the longest and most exspensive bathroom makeover in history! Thankfully the good folk of my local pub, the church inn, came to the rescue and stumped up the £1000 with promises of rich returns for there kindness!!! The GUKPT events ALWAYS pull in fields of 250 +, unless of course its on the same weekend as the badbeat dreamteam live event!!!! The smallest field in the two years of GUKPT of just 160 and it can be blamed solely at the feet of the badbeat live event!!! Not that the low turn out meant it was weaker field- in fact it was the opposite with every table bousting big name players. The new found belief i have online was carried over into the live event and i played my best live tournement of the year. Unfortunetly i ran out of chips and cards as the days play reached an end and finally exited when my k10 ran into the powerhouse 53 ! (i could write a full page about my exit, about how i get all my chips in, about the fella playing such crap from early position, about how he called due to some lump thinking that he HAD to call...................but i wont!). I managed 7 levels with is 5 more than the last two GUKPT events and overall i was pleased with my play..........but still no cigar! I played zero online cash over the weekend but Sunday was the $1,500 buy in $2.5m event on Grandslam. To pay for the event for some still unknown reason i played some 20/40FL HU- possibly one of the sickiest forms of poker known to man! Thankfully for me i was playing a chimp and 35mins later i had left with $1,800. The event itself was a well structured tournement with a 30min clock. I got of to a dream start and after one hand was leading the 1600 field ............of course i peaked far to early!!!! With top prize paying $500,000 the event attracted a host of top players but with so many runners it was going to take a huge slice of luck to go with great play to win it! After fighting my way through the first 1,000 players i was starting to think i was in with a shot, but this was cruely cut short with a number of low blows that saw me fall from 30th of the remaining 300 runners to out in the space of 10 hands............no badbeats, no bad play, no muppet play from my opponents- just a set of hands were i got my money in good only to lose...........ahhh thats poker! So its back to the cash grind after a weekend of tournements, again im feeling very good about the ways things are going and how the P&L is shaping up, heres to another week of online up swing.
