Strummer9's Diary - Week 85 - Saturday 26th

Saturday 26th Well i've made it through too Day 2 with 12,700 chips leaving me about 60th of the 70 left out of the field of 250. A mighty 2,700 chips more than I started with!! Sadly i'm not sat with the 30-40k chips I should have down to two mistakes (not going to moan about the 4 outdraws because there's nowt I can do about them). The first mistake was slow playing the only hand I got all day - QQ under the gun. On an aggressive table I was expecting some raise from somewhere especially after the first two players to act also limped for 200, but now instead I end up in a six way pot. Flop 7 8 2 rainbow stunk of danger and when John watzit bet out (Sorry i'm so bad with names!! Irish fella came 12th in the 2006 WSOP) with 600 I knew I was beat, but called. The flop was a wrag and I check raised him. That obviously pained him - the K on the river obviously no help but I bet out anyway he called begrudgingly saying I must have a set but I can't pass - he had 78. A needless waste of chips - the limp i'm not too bothered about but I have to be big enough to bin that hand on any flop that doesn't contain a Q when six handed - very poor tired play. The other badly played hand was late on in the day. I was sat on a healthy stack of 30k having just done John with 4s6s on a 5c 7c 9d flop - I check raised him all in for all but 600 of his chips which he called INSTANTLY with 10c Jc!! I found a 6d on the river too win the pot! As i'm pilling up the chips he asked me if I was embarrassed to have won the pot!! FFS!!! I said no, how can I be when you just called me with a J high flush draw - his reply of 'I had a flush draw and a straight' just confirmed to me that he hadn't. For 1 second thought about what hand I could possibly have!!! Anyway he's a good bloke and he came 12th in a WSOP so I will give him the benefit of doubt. So back to the bad hand, I get 66 in the BB and get a raise from the button - blinds were a crushing 600/1200 with 200 anti so everyone was playing position very strongly. I count his chips and put him on about 14k so decided to defend my blind with a bet that I can fold to a re raised - so min raise him back to 5600. He moves all in but i've counted wrong and he's actually only got 10900, its 5300 to call to win a 24k pot - I have to call with two blank cards - I call...he's got KK and i've just spunked off 11k in a pot I was trying to play cheaply!!! So bad. My stack then got battered when I got my money way ahead three times against the only gimp at the table who played like a rock all day unless I put him all in. Then his A6 against my A10 - his J10 against my AJ and my KQ against his K10 - all of a sudden became worthy of calling all his chips off with (each time I could hear him whispering to the fella next to him how he could not pass as there was too much money in the pot - each time he had no more than 10% of his chips in- C O C K). So I finish on 12,700- hmmmmm and apart from my two knobhead moments i've played bloody good on a bloody good table and i've got to come back tomorrow to blinds of 800/1600 and 200 anti - me needs some cards me thinks!!
