Well I've had my first mentoring session with Paul Rigg (Riggy) and I have to say it went pretty well..I managed to purchase Hold Em Manager through Badbeat and am just starting to get to grips with it all. Paul helped me look at some of my stats and we went through some of my biggest losing hands. Playing them back it really helps to identify where I went wrong and how I could of played things better.

One thing I have also been using is the built in Leak Finder within Hold Em Manager and I'm discovering my VPIP% of 12.5 is a bit low for the games I'm playing.. Think I'm actually losing some money by playing a little too tight. Paul also commented on this so I will try raising with a few more hands pre-flop and play more in position.

I'm starting to realise how important it is to study previous games and learn as much as I can about poker in general. I've set up a decent HUD for 6max cash and am now trying to become quicker at looking at peoples stats while in play and figure out the type of player they are.

I managed to play just over 6k hands in my first week and considering before I was playing around 3k I'm very happy with my volume of play.

I'm now trying to level up to playing .25/.50 which I'm having a stab at with a couple of tables and the others .10/.20.

I also won my biggest pot today .. (O.K so I had AA!) but was still very pleased my opponent hit a full house to give me all of his chips - Sucker ! - £43.56
