Manuel 'IsabelleF' Palanca's Blog

12th August

Daytime was full of sessions for my group including a new format we tried in the afternoon. It worked well and I might run something again on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. In the evening I wasn't sharp enough to play high stakes so I played 3 tables of 10 20 for 30 minutes. The tables were little value but I just wanted to play for a while (I had booked the time as playing time), I eeked out about 50BB profit after being sucked out on of a few times so had to be happy with that really.

A few of my players are really struggling at the moment, running terribly bad, so I intent on giving them all the attention I can and they want to help get through it. Downswings are an unfortunate part of the game, one that tests peoples sanity to the limit and has them at breaking point. It's more or less the same for everyone, but it's how you deal with it that determines the strength of a person. Apart from being mentally strong enough to cope you need to make the right adjustments to your methodology, many don't do this and fall by the wayside.

A lot of the kids today have never experienced a true downswing, some are fortunate in running into heaters at the right time which enables them to push for the top limits. Check in 1-2 years later and see how many are still there? Not that many I can tell you. Survival, survival survival, the games always there but will you be?
